Geothermal heating uses the ground as a heat source. A few meters below the Earth's surface, the ground absorbs sunlight and maintains a nearly constant temperature.

Pipes are buried in the ground, where they absorb the heat. These pipes carry the heat to a heat pump, which transfers and distributes the heat.

Geothermal heat pumps are gaining popularity as geothermal energy is considered a renewable resource.
